DIY mini Camper 3 is finally built!
It took a while, but the camper is built. We took it to Cades Cove for the first time
in June of 2024. We pulled it with my daughters Town & Country minivan.
The van was okay, but it had some trouble pulling the mini camper.
The mini camper only weighs about 1000lbs but, it the van would struggle some.
I would get the miles per hour up to 55mph with no trouble.
Then the van would slowly slow down until I had to step harder on the accelerator.
We did make it to Cades Cove and back to Palm Harbor without incident.
The trailer is about ten feet long and six feet wide. It’s also 6 feet high so we standup
inside the trailer.
There are five 100-watt solar panels on the roof. The panels are charging
to LiFePO4 100-ah batteries. We used a 2000-watt sinewave inverter for our power.
That was enough to keep our dorm room refrigerator working for our whole trip.
