We left Soldotna at 5 am to get to Seward before the boat left at 8am.
I figured 3 hours early would be good, it takes only hour and half to get there.
Shortly after we left we hit the first road construction stop. Then another and
another and now we were getting very late. We got to the docks 15 minutes
before the boat was to leave and were able to get tickets. Then they said I had
to park the truck a 1/2 mile away and a bus would bring me back. Sure enough
I took the wrong turn. When I finally got the parking lot the bus was waiting for me.
Karen and I were the last two on the boat, but they waited!
The boat captain brought the boat right up to the glaciers and rocks.
Seems the ocean out there goes straight down.
At the glacier you could hear the ice cracking, sounded a little like thunder.
Then big chunks of the glacier would fall off into the sea.
