Pink Salt and Pink Flamingos
We were on a cruise in the Caribbean and the ship stopped
at the Grand Turks Island. There were lots of beautiful beaches
and many pink flamingos. We paid for an island tour and went
to many places of interest. Then the driver stopped near a church.
There was a large shallow body of water. The tour guide explained
that Grand Turks sells lots of pink salt. Who knew? We got out of
the bus and went to the shallow saltwater ponds to check it out. He explained
that they let salt water into the flats. Then the sun dries it up.
The salt is harvested and sold. It was interesting because we
use pink salt at home. Then we saw flocks of pink flamingos!
All flocking around in the shallow water pools. Hundreds of them!
Is that why pink salt is pink? Not the best picture but with pink flamingos!
